First released in July 2016, Onshape Drawings is fully integrated into Onshape and taking care of the 2D technical drawings of this popular and cloud-based 3D solution. In a recent article from Onshape’s blog, the engineers from Loxta Hardware in the UK share their experience with Onshape and Onshape Drawings: Singh credits significant enhancements to Onshape Drawings for convincing him to make the full transition to full-cloud CAD. “To be honest, it’s difficult to say exactly the single feature, but it’s just more of the fact that there are more tools now available, even down to adding data points, adding notes, adding references, adding virtual edges,” he says. “It wasn’t just one thing. It was like Onshape evolved to a point where it feels – and it is – engineering

Wall Street loves it, but users — especially AutoCAD users — are not happy. Graebert’s new model provides incredible value for the money (it is thousands of dollars cheaper than AutoCAD) and makes it simple for companies to stay in compliance with license requirements and provide their users the access flexibility they require.” Read the full article on Graphic Speak

The successful CAD manager is able to ease changes to CAD by carefully planning the process and keeping everyone informed. While the primary problem you will face is finding money for upgrades to the system, above all remember that your goal is to make it more efficient to get work done. When something makes the work more efficient, then implement it. The following article is an abstract of the eBook ‘Best CAD Practices’ by Ralph Grabowski. Graebert is happy to share with you some of the experience accumulated by Ralph as a CAD expert and as compiled in his eBook for which the reference can be

ARES Commander significantly increases the number of tools in the XtraTools tab. The same features are now also available for Mac and Linux. For your reference, this was the XtraTools tab in the previous version of ARES Commander. The number of tools is significantly higher if you compare with the new XtraTools tab. Dynamic Print Preview The Print settings dialog has been redesigned to improve productivity Enjoy a reorganized dialog for Print settings with a dynamic preview representing your drawing as it would be printed. You no longer need to switch between settings and preview to adjust your print configuration. ARES Commander has a new print dialog box. It has been redesigned to have a preview – in real time – of what we are going to print. Here, we see how it will be printed. In this dialog we find all the necessary parameters to configure our printing correctly. Options with Dynamic Print Preview We can choose the printer, the number of copies, and even the paper size, and of course, we can rotate it. We can also configure the scale among other parameters. Any changes that we make in this box, we can apply directly to our tab in paper space.
Advanced Block Attributes Editing New dialog for advanced editing of block attributes and properties Select one or more block insertions and use this new dialog to edit one or more attributes but also block properties such as a layer, line style, color, text style and more.
