Block with Attributes

ExplodeBlockX is one of the new commands of ARES Commander. With this new feature, you can explode a block with attributes and convert attributes in the text.

1
00:00:09,220 –> 00:00:12,719
During a project, we sometimes use a block with attributes.

2
00:00:12,960 –> 00:00:18,740
ARES Commander 2015 allows us to edit these blocks without losing the content.

3
00:00:18,860 –> 00:00:21,700
Here, for example, there is a block with attributes.

4
00:00:22,100 –> 00:00:25,780
We can select the block and reposition the attributes.

5
00:00:33,50 –> 00:00:37,250
And we even have a grip that will allow us to reposition the block.

6
00:00:38,329 –> 00:00:42,9
We can also change the content of a block with attributes.

7
00:00:42,580 –> 00:00:44,739
Simply double click it.

8
00:00:45,290 –> 00:00:50,170
The attribute values appear with which we can make the changes we need.

9
00:00:50,540 –> 00:00:54,600
For example, the text that represents the date of the drawing

10
00:00:55,580 –> 00:01:00,140
It could, however, happen that we need to change the entities belonging to the block

11
00:01:00,380 –> 00:01:02,880
and not necessarily to the attribute.

12
00:01:03,280 –> 00:01:07,940
For example, if we wanted to make this part of the label have a lesser width.

Using the ‘Stretch’ Command

13
00:01:08,160 –> 00:01:12,759
If we intend to use a command like ‘Stretch’

14
00:01:16,649 –> 00:01:24,20
we only move the entire block. That way we cannot reduce the width of the entities

15
00:01:24,20 –> 00:01:27,500
But if we use ‘Explode’

16
00:01:28,620 –> 00:01:31,320
the block resolves to a lower level.

17
00:01:31,740 –> 00:01:34,899
Sure, the attributes lose the assigned values

18
00:01:35,120 –> 00:01:39,180
but in this case the entities are independent.

19
00:01:39,780 –> 00:01:43,980
If we now use the ‘Stretch’ command

20
00:01:44,240 –> 00:01:46,670
to reduce this width

21
00:01:46,670 –> 00:01:54,350
what happens? We have to re-create the block, insert, and rewrite all the data the label had.

22
00:01:54,820 –> 00:02:00,20
Since the values of the block, in this case, the attributes, have been lost.

23
00:02:01,140 –> 00:02:02,880
Let’s go back …

24
00:02:02,920 –> 00:02:08,289
Ares Commander 2015 offers a solution to change the shape of the block

25
00:02:08,380 –> 00:02:11,820
without altering the content of the attributes.

Using  ‘ExplodeBlockX’

26
00:02:12,600 –> 00:02:16,340
For this we have the new tool: ‘ExplodeBlockX’

27
00:02:16,500 –> 00:02:18,780
Select the block.

28
00:02:19,890 –> 00:02:23,940
The decomposition happens but the attributes are converted into text.

29
00:02:24,460 –> 00:02:26,580
which allows us to modify

30
00:02:27,460 –> 00:02:31,480
what once belonged to the block

31
00:02:31,760 –> 00:02:35,100
without losing data belonging to the attributes

32
00:02:35,200 –> 00:02:38,100
since now the attributes have become text.

33
