Berlin – Graebert™ – a leading developer of CAD software, solutions, and services, including building surveying software and services – today announced that a Beta download of SiteMaster™ 2013 is available to select users and is also introducing SiteMaster 2013 BIM. Both products are managed and distributed by Graebert’s iSurvey team (www.graebert-isurvey.com).

SiteMaster 2013 is an advanced building survey software solution for mobile devices. It can be paired with any Bluetooth®-enabled Laser Distance Meter on any Microsoft® Windows® 7 or 8 tablet device to create accurate digital CAD drawings and “as-build” floor plans of existing buildings while onsite.

About SiteMaster 2013

SiteMaster 2013 is a 2D solution for capturing building information onsite with enhanced 3D viewing. This new version of SiteMaster is built on the powerful and efficient ARES® CAD engine from Graebert – the same technology that powers DraftSight™ from Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp. and CorelCAD™ from Corel™ Corporation.

SiteMaster 2013 is object-oriented, allowing users to create and manipulate smart objects representing walls, windows, doors, and more. This saves the surveyor time on-site and reduces the effort needed to finalize plans back in the office. As a result, surveys can be conducted in half the time of competitive solutions.

SiteMaster 2013 software runs on affordable Windows 7 and 8 tablets, eliminating the need for expensive hardware. This cost savings, combined with the many technology enhancements and data collection capabilities in version 2013, gives the new SiteMaster a significant competitive advantage when compared to other building measuring and surveying solutions such as 3D laser point cloud surveys. The familiar user interface, icon menus, and dialogue boxes make SiteMaster 2013 easy to learn for professionals who use DWG-compatible software.

Key features of SiteMaster 2013 include:

  • Measure, draw and transfer walls, windows, and doors as editable objects
  • Copy or edit objects with entity grip points and the attribute manager
  • Export and exchange data with all compatible .DWG software
  • 2D intelligent surveying on-site reduces the time in the office after completing the survey
  • Integrated 3D viewer
  • Forward compatibility (user interface and database) with older versions of SiteMaster
  • Easily insert bill of material or other object data as a table in the drawing

3D point cloud solutions are getting a lot of attention in the surveying industry today, but SiteMaster 2013 is simply more powerful, efficient and will save users tens of thousands of dollars in hardware, software, and man hours when it comes to as-build floor plans,” said Wilfried Graebert, CEO of Graebert. “We are very excited about the benefits this technology will bring to surveyors who have chosen to work with the best available tools and software.

About SiteMaster 2013 BIM

Graebert is also introducing SiteMaster 2013 BIM – a full 3D, IFC-enabled and object-oriented enhanced version of SiteMaster 2013. The software enables the quick creation of BIM models and provides data to import directly into 3D architectural modeling packages like Autodesk® Revit® and Tekla® Structures. Applying BIM to existing buildings and structures makes SiteMaster the preferred first step in a reversed BIM workflow for producing as-build drawings in IFC format. The data and object-rich drawing databases that result can be used for facilities management, refurbishment projects, and many other applications.

SiteMaster 2013 BIM allows professionals to survey and create accurate IFC object structures for BIM projects, eliminating modeling work back at the office. SiteMaster 2013 BIM supports a 3D implementation of IFC including complete attribute transfer.

The software is delivered as part of project-based partnerships with Graebert’s iSurvey team. Companies can leverage the SiteMaster 2013 BIM software when Graebert iSurvey conducts or consults on their “as-build” surveying projects. Graebert iSurvey excels at training and international project management, meaning every project uses a consultative, results-oriented approach. Companies will be partnering with an industry leader with over 12 years of experience in mobile surveying solutions. Graebert iSurvey’s expertise combined with cutting-edge SiteMaster 2013 BIM software become a preferred partner for conducting “as built” building surveys.

Atkins is fully embracing the change from 2D CAD to BIM. Revit is allowing us to do this, however we still have to get our 2D plans and elevations and make them into fully fledged 3D models. SiteMaster 2013 BIM and our partnership with Graebert iSurvey has enabled Atkins to have building surveys in the right file formats imported directly into Revit with minimal fuss in the CAD/ BIM Design and Engineering department. This eliminates the need for the building to be redrawn with the obvious cost savings and reduces the chance of any errors occurring. This technology from Graebert is a huge win for Atkins.
