The new “Pattern Hatch” command (found in the “XtraTools”) allows us to create a custom HATCH, based on “blocks”, “images”, “External References” or “masks”.
From Hatch command to Pattern Hatch
1
00:00:09,640 –> 00:00:12,820
Besides working with the traditional HATCH command,
2
00:00:12,880 –> 00:00:20,600
Ares Commander 2016 features a new command called “Pattern Hatch” (found here in the “XtraTools”).
3
00:00:21,300 –> 00:00:24,400
This command allows us to create a custom
HATCH,
4
00:00:24,430 –> 00:00:30,590
based on “blocks”, “images”, “External References”
or “masks”.
5
00:00:30,960 –> 00:00:33,460
Let’s try first with an “image”.
6
00:00:33,500 –> 00:00:36,660
Click on this button and select the image.
7
00:00:36,660 –> 00:00:43,120
This is an image representing elements which size in real life is 100×100 cm.
8
00:00:43,160 –> 00:00:44,309
Click OPEN.
9
00:00:44,340 –> 00:00:49,80
To insert a Hatch we need an enclosed area or a closed shape.
10
00:00:49,740 –> 00:00:55,160
We use “Points Specify” to select a closed area by clicking anywhere inside,
11
00:00:55,200 –> 00:01:00,170
Ares Commander then finds the enclosed area around the specified point.
12
00:01:00,600 –> 00:01:03,200
Let’s preview what we have so far.
13
00:01:03,300 –> 00:01:08,700
If we look closer we can see our image, repeated inside the closed area.
14
00:01:08,900 –> 00:01:13,10
We also notice that there is a distance between each image.
15
00:01:13,20 –> 00:01:16,179
Press ESCAPE to return to the dialog box.
16
00:01:16,580 –> 00:01:20,240
We can control the distance between images here.
17
00:01:20,249 –> 00:01:23,329
If you want the images to appear right next
to each other,
18
00:01:23,329 –> 00:01:26,568
simply write “zero” in the X and Y directions.
19
00:01:26,940 –> 00:01:28,440
Let’s preview again.
20
00:01:28,680 –> 00:01:32,430
In this way, we get a custom Hatch, based
on our image.
21
00:01:32,900 –> 00:01:37,359
If we want this to look smaller,
we can return to the dialog with ESCAPE,
22
00:01:37,359 –> 00:01:41,999
and change the scale factor.
23
00:01:44,220 –> 00:01:50,440
If we are satisfied with the result, we click
the right button to end the command.
24
00:01:50,980 –> 00:01:53,891
Now let’s see how it works with a block.
25
00:01:54,720 –> 00:02:00,500
First, let’s create a small block with a square
of 1.5 by 1.5
26
00:02:05,540 –> 00:02:11,820
Here inside we do an offset of 0.2 and another
one of 0.1
27
00:02:17,680 –> 00:02:23,420
Now, with this design, we create the block: Enter “B” and press Enter.
28
00:02:23,600 –> 00:02:29,440
We write a name for example “Ceramic01” and a description.
29
00:02:32,400 –> 00:02:35,460
Indicate an insertion point.
30
00:02:35,760 –> 00:02:37,579
The unit will be meters.
31
00:02:37,800 –> 00:02:40,260
Select the objects that belong to the block.
32
00:02:40,520 –> 00:02:45,160
Finally, we choose to remove the entities
after the block creation.
33
00:02:45,260 –> 00:02:48,859
So we created a block.
Now we go to PATTERN HATCH,
34
00:02:49,60 –> 00:02:52,380
indicate BLOCK, and click on this button.
35
00:02:52,700 –> 00:02:53,991
Select the block.
36
00:02:55,640 –> 00:02:59,679
Specify the closed area with a click.
37
00:02:59,740 –> 00:03:05,580
We write a separation of “zero” in both directions and click “preview”.
38
00:03:06,960 –> 00:03:11,800
We have now quickly created a custom hatch from a block.
39
00:03:12,160 –> 00:03:17,140
We can click on the screen, or press ESCAPE to return to the dialog box.
40
00:03:18,220 –> 00:03:25,780
Now, among the options available, we could indicate an angle in the drawing or enter a value here.
41
00:03:29,280 –> 00:03:32,360
Note, that among the available options of
“PATTERN HATCH”
42
00:03:32,379 –> 00:03:38,459
we have the ability to enter a name and save it as a favorite, for later reuse in the drawing.
43
00:03:39,700 –> 00:03:43,200
Finally, we can control the point of origin.
44
00:03:44,240 –> 00:03:49,580
And we can even set the tolerance value in the areas enclosed by curves.
45
00:03:49,940 –> 00:03:55,520
If we want to modify an existing PATTERN HATCH, we can select it and use the same command:
46
00:03:55,520 –> 00:03:59,760
Either from the ribbon or by typing it in
the command line.
47
00:04:00,560 –> 00:04:05,540
In order to launch the Pattern Hatch dialog and modify the parameters we want.
48
00:04:05,540 –> 00:04:09,780
