Graebert continues to drive innovation into the (.dwg) CAD file format—exciting this year’s attendees with uniquely positioned options for integrations into the AEC BIM market along with strong advances in its cloud technologies with ARES Kudo.
Graebert Software of Berlin, Germany, has become the second-largest vendor of 2D CAD software by mostly staying in the shadows.
Wilfried Graebert, founder and CEO of Graebert, weighs in on the continuing importance of 2D. “When the first PLM, BIM, or GIS solutions emerged, many were claiming that 2D drawings would disappear…
Graebert ARES Kudo significantly outperforms Autodesk AutoCAD Web in head-to-head independent testing. The white paper, “Comparing Cloud-based CAD Systems from Autodesk and Graebert,” is written by well-known CAD expert Ralph Grabowski. The paper described the results of testing and details the two products feature by feature.
In this whitepaper, we compare the capabilities of the free and paid versions of computer-aided design (CAD) applications that run in Web browsers:
■ Autodesk’s AutoCAD Web App ( Formerly named AutoCAD 360 and before that AutoCAD WS )
■ Graebert’s ARES Kudo
The initial BIMFlow performs these tasks:
Imports RVT and IFC files
Examines read-only IFC properties with Properties panel
Toggles elements of BIM models with the new BIM Navigator panel
Extracts IFC data in CSV format to create in-drawing tables for quantity take-offs and reports
Generates 2D sections of BIM models
‘ARES Commander 2020 can now allow access to BIM model data via Industry Foundation Classes (.ifc) and Revit (.rvt) and (.rfa) file formats. Once BIM models are loaded into ARES Commander 2020 you can view the model in 3D in the graphics area and also create sections through the model. You can also extra data from BIM elements like beams and columns through new filters for data extraction. (…)
A new white paper comparing Autodesk AutoCAD Web to Graebert ARES Kudo finds that Kudo “significantly” outperforms AutoCAD Web in almost every category of comparison. The white paper, “Comparing Cloud-based CAD Systems from Autodesk and Graebert,” is written by well-known CAD expert Ralph Grabowski. The paper goes into painstaking detail to compare the two products feature by feature.
Graebert is no stranger to BIM [building information modeling], even though the company is never associated with the ArchiCADs and Vectorworks of the world. It has a subsidiary named iSurvey whose SiteMaster software is used to measure and model the interiors of buildings and kitchens in a BIM context for six years now.
A notable exception is Graebert’s ARES Trinity of CAD, a desktop/mobile/browser platform that allows the user to store data in their choice of online products such as Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, and Microsoft One Drive. Graebert built its ARES platform using ODA software as a foundation
