Working with Commands Grouped in Panels
ARES Commander allows you to add or modify panels in the Ribbon according to your needs.
1
00:00:08,920 –> 00:00:13,840
The Ribbon allows access to commands that are grouped in panels.
2
00:00:14,420 –> 00:00:17,80
The panel group is part of a tab.
3
00:00:17,460 –> 00:00:23,140
Ares Commander 2015 allows us to change the distribution of the panels and tabs,
4
00:00:23,140 –> 00:00:28,300
so we can customize the organization of the Ribbon according to our taste.
5
00:00:28,300 –> 00:00:31,40
At the moment the Ribbon is showing its default appearance
6
00:00:31,120 –> 00:00:33,980
with the Workspace “Drafting and Annotation”.
7
00:00:34,140 –> 00:00:39,860
If we go to the tab “MANAGE” and select “INTERFACE” in the “CUSTOMIZATION” section,
8
00:00:40,530 –> 00:00:46,719
we can go to the options of the Ribbon where all the 2D and 3D tabs are displayed.
9
00:00:48,760 –> 00:00:52,99
We can create a new tab by right-clicking
10
00:00:53,540 –> 00:00:55,879
and we can assign a name to it.
11
00:00:59,560 –> 00:01:05,780
In this tab you can incorporate panels which are currently defined in Ares Commander 2015.
12
00:01:06,420 –> 00:01:09,660
Simply drag them.
13
00:01:16,640 –> 00:01:20,980
For this new tab, that is part of this workspace of the ribbon,
14
00:01:21,780 –> 00:01:24,740
we define it and apply the changes.
Selecting “UI PROFILES”
15
00:01:25,480 –> 00:01:28,440
Select the option “UI PROFILES”.
16
00:01:29,180 –> 00:01:32,140
From here we open the tabs of the Ribbon,
17
00:01:33,220 –> 00:01:36,640
drag our new tab from the side panel
18
00:01:39,460 –> 00:01:42,360
and drop it in this workspace.
19
00:01:43,780 –> 00:01:49,480
When you click OK … you confirm the incorporation of the new tab.
20
00:01:51,280 –> 00:01:58,280
Ares Commander 2015 allows us also to change
the look of the icons for each command.
21
00:01:59,160 –> 00:02:03,280
For example, we can see that some commands appear like this
22
00:02:04,20 –> 00:02:06,440
and others with a drop-down menu.
23
00:02:07,140 –> 00:02:11,490
Other icons display only a diagram without
text.
24
00:02:13,60 –> 00:02:16,820
These options are available for any of these commands.
25
00:02:18,480 –> 00:02:24,19
As an example, we will change the look of the commands in the new tab.
26
00:02:28,420 –> 00:02:30,519
Select “INTERFACE”.
27
00:02:31,360 –> 00:02:33,660
This time we go to “Panels”.
28
00:02:34,280 –> 00:02:37,260
We search for the panel we want to modify.
29
00:02:38,680 –> 00:02:41,100
There we find the corresponding commands.
30
00:02:41,300 –> 00:02:43,240
Now select one of them …
31
00:02:44,480 –> 00:02:46,920
… and change the button style.
32
00:02:49,720 –> 00:02:51,580
The other one …
33
00:02:53,880 –> 00:02:55,880
… and this one.
34
00:02:59,420 –> 00:03:01,519
We can see the changes here.
35
00:03:02,500 –> 00:03:08,180
Like this you can create your own panels, copy existing ones, modify the appearance of icons
36
00:03:08,320 –> 00:03:11,500
and even group them in a way that is most useful for you.
Another Example
37
00:03:11,800 –> 00:03:13,580
Let’s look at another example.
38
00:03:13,840 –> 00:03:15,760
Go to the “MANAGE” tab
39
00:03:16,180 –> 00:03:18,420
and select “CUSTOMIZATION”.
40
00:03:19,400 –> 00:03:23,200
Open the Ribbon, where we see the panels and tabs.
41
00:03:26,20 –> 00:03:29,460
In the “Annotate” tab we have the “TEXT”panel.
42
00:03:31,520 –> 00:03:37,480
At the bottom, in the panels section we find this “TEXT” panel.
43
00:03:39,600 –> 00:03:43,680
When you open it, this group of commands appear.
44
00:03:45,400 –> 00:03:49,140
By clicking here, we can see these commands.
45
00:03:50,400 –> 00:03:54,320
What appears in this menu can also be seen here.
46
00:03:55,320 –> 00:03:59,19
The “Sub-Panel” is divided into 3 parts.
47
00:04:00,160 –> 00:04:03,79
The third option contains 2 commands.
48
00:04:03,980 –> 00:04:06,579
These two commands appear over here.
49
00:04:07,80 –> 00:04:09,80
Let’s add a new command.
Using “Command Exlporer”
50
00:04:10,320 –> 00:04:13,459
You find the commands here in the “Command Exlporer”.
51
00:04:14,200 –> 00:04:16,819
In this case we search for “table”.
52
00:04:17,560 –> 00:04:20,861
All the commands containing the word table are listed.
53
00:04:21,860 –> 00:04:25,380
I will add EDIT TABLE by dragging it here.
54
00:04:26,700 –> 00:04:29,280
Here we see that it has been added.
55
00:04:31,800 –> 00:04:37,560
To change the appearance of the icon, select it and choose an option here.
56
00:04:39,360 –> 00:04:44,480
The changes in this panel will affect all tabs containing the TEXT panel.
57
00:04:45,40 –> 00:04:51,20
If we want to create a new panel identical to an existing one, and then customize it,
58
00:04:51,740 –> 00:04:55,20
we click here, then right-click
59
00:04:56,000 –> 00:04:57,980
and choose “DUPLICATE”.
60
00:04:58,460 –> 00:05:02,99
It appears here. Let’s rename it.
61
00:05:06,740 –> 00:05:11,860
Like this we can have a personalized copy and keep the original unchanged.
62
00:05:13,140 –> 00:05:16,539
Now we can add the new panel to this tab.
63
00:05:21,580 –> 00:05:25,919
To add the new panel, we search for it here.
64
00:05:26,640 –> 00:05:29,460
Simply drag to add it.
65
00:05:33,180 –> 00:05:35,180
This is how we can remove it.
Removing a Panel
66
00:05:41,900 –> 00:05:46,620
Alright, we now have our custom panel with the additional command.
67
00:05:47,540 –> 00:05:49,840
Without affecting the original panel.
68
00:05:50,820 –> 00:05:51,940
Thanks for listening.
