Answers to the most common questions

Question: Product activation of ARES or ARES Commander Edition. The activation program returns “Error 2006: This key is invalid or not for this computer.” (or “Error 4006: This seems to be the product key and not the license key. Please go back to the page 'Introduction' and select the option 'Activate' to activate this product by the product key.”) What did I do wrong?

Answer: You have entered the product key (27 digits) instead of the license code (starts with the word LICENSE). Please select the upper “Activate” option first. Then log in with your account data or sign up at www.graebert.com. The product key to enable your license is required once the user account verification has been done. Note: If you have no Internet connection at the moment, please use E-mail Activation.

Question: What are the minimum and recommended software and hardware requirements for ARES and ARES Commander Edition on the Windows® platform?

Answer:

Your PC should be minimally equipped as follows:

• Microsoft® Windows® XP (SP2), Windows Vista®, or Windows 7
• Intel® Pentium® 4 processor (2 GHz or faster)
• 300 MB free hard disk space
• 1 GB RAM
• High Color (16 bit) graphics card
• Super VGA (1024 x 768) display
• Mouse

We recommend a Windows PC with these characteristics:

• Microsoft Windows XP (SP2), Vista® Business, or Windows 7
• Intel Core™ 2 Duo, AMD Athlon™ X2 Dual-Core processor, or better
• 400 MB free hard disk space
• 2 or 3 GB RAM
• 3D Graphics accelerator card
• 22 inch display
• Wheel mouse

Question: What are the minimum and recommended software and hardware requirements for ARES Commander Edition on the Apple® Mac® platform?

Answer:

Your PC should be equipped as follows:

• Appel® Mac® with Intel® processor
• Mac OS X v10.5.8 (Leopard) or v10.6.x (Snow Leopard)
• 1GB of RAM (2GB recommended)
• 2GB of available hard-disk space for installation
• 1024x768 display (1280x800 recommended) with 16-bit video card
• Mouse
• An Internet connection for installation from download and for activation (optional)
• DVD-ROM drive for installation from DVD (not required for installation from download)

Answer:

Your PC should be equipped as follows:

• Ubuntu® 9.10 Gnome, Fedora® 11 Gnome, Suse® 11.2 Gnome, Mandriva® 2010 Gnome and KDE, or higher versions (others in progress), 32bit
• 2 GHz x86 processor (at least Pentium 4)
• 1 GB of RAM (2 GB recommended)
• 1 GB of available hard-disk space for installation
• 1024x768 display (1680x1050 or higher recommended) with True Color graphics card
• Mouse (Wheel mouse recommended)
• An Internet connection for installation from download and for activation (optional)
• DVD-ROM drive for installation from DVD (not required for installation from download)
